York's Cold War Bunker is an incredible time capsule. An imposing bulding which is tucked away in a quiet Acomb cul-de-sac. It was the site for 11 consecutive live performances by Game_Program who soundtracked a short film which was put together by Yorkshire Film Archive. The film collated footage from the era the Bunker was operational and the sounds translated terminology specific to the site into morse-code beats.
"Really moving, politically relevant to now. A voyage of discovery seeing something new in York and experiencing it in a sensory way."
James Hill introduced each tour, drawing from conversations and research undertaken with veterans of the Royal Observer Corps. The Royal Observers invited groups to their local, from when they were volunteers, the Carlton Tavern, to answer questions and share memories of their time there.
